Rhinocypha stygia
Rhinocypha stygia is a damselfly in the 'Jewel' family Chlorocyphidae. It reportedly inhabits small forested streams on Borneo.
Observations suggest that it spends much of its time perched high in the canopy above the streams, descending only during sunny intervals to perch and defend territory on exposed leaves relatively high above the streams - often several meters above the water. When clouds cover the sun, it immediately flies high into the canopy, descending again only when the sun returns. Unlike many other species in this family, it apparently rarely perches low near the water.
These behaviors, combined with the small size and overall dark colors, make it relatively difficult to find and photograph, suggesting that it might be more abundant and widespread than observational data indicates.
