Odonata is the order of insects consisting of the three suborders Dragonflies (Anisoptera), Damselflies (Zygoptera), and Relict Dragonflies (Anisozygoptera), the latter having morphological characteristics of both Dragonflies and Damselflies. The term "Odonata" is apparently derived from the ancient Greek word for tooth "ὀδών" presumably due to their large mandibles.
