Size: Length 47-53 mm; abdomen 35-40; hindwing 31-36.
Identification: Very similar in general appearance to Masked Clubskimmer (B. pertinax) but usually smaller and with more extensive pale markings, although the latter are still much more restricted than in Pale-faced Clubskimmer (B. mendax).
Similar species: Differs from Masked Clubskimmer in having the labrum pale, the thoracic pale stripes generally wider, with the mesepisternal stripe present, although usually broken at the spiracle and just below the dorsal end. The wings are hyaline except for a trace of brown at the extreme base and that the female forewing may be yellow or pale brown distal to the nodus.
The pale maculation of the abdomen also is more extensive, with segment 2 largely pale laterally and ventrolaterally except for restricted anteroventral and midlateral dark areas. The pale markings of segments 3-7 are also similar to Masked Clubskimmer but more extensive, with the streak on segment 7 about 3/4-4/5 the segment length. Often a pair of diffuse pale basal spots occurs dorsolaterally on segment 8. The hamules are nearly straight for some distance beyond the basal carina but project postemventrally and terminate in curved and very acute apices. The subgenital plate is similar to that of Masked Clubskimmer.
